Shaun T Insanity is an eight week workout program designed mostly with a cardiovascular style approach though it does include strength and power training to help build lean muscle and definition.

The program starts right out of the gate with a fit test to help you determine your current physical level. You perform 8 different moves and record your repetitions. You repeat this video several times throughout the eight week workout program and then you do it once more at the very end.

1. Warm Up

Warming up is very important when you exercise. It makes your heart rate raise at a gradual pace which allows your muscles time to adjust and not get overworked suddenly. This will help prevent muscle cramps, shin splints, and (hopefully) being terribly sore after the workout.

2. Make sure to be "in" the workout - Todays gyms are high-tech with TV screens everywhere and other gadgets. If you are working out to burn fat quickly, it is important to train hard in high intensity interval training, or HIIT, as well as with intervals and circuit training workout routines. The main issue is knowing exactly how hard to push yourself. Figuring out the ideal workout intensity for things like interval training is almost an art.

I like to separate the fat loss portion of the workout from the strength training portion of the workout (most of the time). Strength training is usually the easy part. With any workout, the calorie burning, fat loss portion is the most intense and difficult. A Low Intensity Workout Doesn't Create an "After Effect"

Most often, when I am at the gym, I see people doing a fat loss workout with no intensity in it. Walking on a treadmill is a waste of time, unless you are resting up for the next interval. In all honesty, a low intensity cardio workout won't burn enough calories to make any real impact on your physical appearance.

High Intensity Workouts : Too High

You will more than likely find yourself resting for longer periods of time when you are finished with your routine, if it is too intense or difficult. For the optimal fat loss results, you should go about your day as if the workout didn't just happen, otherwise your body will waste time resting. Working out hard and then sitting on the couch the rest of the day because you are tired, is not a good fat loss strategy.

How Do You Know if You Are Working Out With the Right Intensity for Your Fat Loss Routine?

Pay attention to what is called the "HGH Flush". I am not sure where this term originated from, but it does serve as a great tool for rating your fat loss workout. The HGH Flush is when your skin becomes noticeably hot and slightly red, and when you are running short of breath post-workout. Do you recall your high school gym coach making you run laps and force you to keep going until you ran out of breath and you felt like you were on fire? Your body releases a higher amount of HGH, a fat burning hormone, than usual during this HGH flush, indicating that your metabolism is increased.

Working In Your Comfort Zone : The Edge

I see personal trainers push their clients too hard early in a routine, which is a major mistake. I once hired a personal trainer who wanted to "destroy me" with each workout. That wasn't for me. This workout intensity is usually referred to the 'sweet spot'. As you get in shape, you can gradually push yourself harder. However, pay close attention and back off a bit if you find yourself overly tired after a workout.

There's an awful lot of stuff on the internet that will show you how to get fat off your love handles. Fact is, the majority is useless. Designed to sell you some crap diet or some pills.

The side bend is the usual suspect in the exercise for love handles category. You hold something above your head, usually a broom handle or stick and then lean or bend left, then right. Then repeat, repeatedly. Get real! It would be nice if they actually worked.

They will not work if you are just targeting one particular area. Just doing one area will have no effect whatsoever 99% of the time. Lots of people and websites will tell you otherwise though. Of course they work, but only when they are part of a complete system. Not just targeting one area.

If you do side bends as part of a thorough workout then they will work. Couple the thorough workout with decent eating habits and you've cracked it. The fact is, to lose weight (or fat) you need to burn more energy than you consume.

To consume energy simply means to eat food. Burning energy off is done simply by activity or exercise. Any form of activity will burn energy off. This is basically what exercise is.

This could be walking, swimming, running, weightlifting or even sex. The last one sounds good to me! Any type of exercise is good for you. No exercise is bad for you. This is the reason people get fat. They eat calorie laden food and do little or no exercise.

You can do love handle exercises for ever and a day but ignore other areas and you will end up back at square one. I'm a naturally lazy person so I tend to go swimming a lot. It's a great non impact all round exercise. If you can get to a swimming pool you should. It's gentle and has great benefits for you.

I hate jogging and see no benefit in killing your knees every day. You may need them in later life! I believe the guy who brought us jogging keeled over and died while out jogging. Ironically discovered by two smokers walking past.
